ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — After compiling 333 yards of offense in a win over Southwestern Oklahoma State, Reddies' fifth-year quarterback Andrew Edwards was named GAC Offensive Player of the Week on Monday for the second time this season.
Edwards, an alum of Bentonville High School, completed 19-of-26 passes for 198Â yards and two touchdowns, but did serious damage on the ground as he ran for a career-high 135 yards and a score. It was the first time a Henderson State quarterback has rushed for over 100 yards in a game since 2017.
His latest Player of the Week award is the 11th of his career — third-most all-time in the history of the GAC behind former HSU quarterback Kevin Rodgers (14) and former Southern Nazarene quarterback Gage Porter (12). Edwards has won the award multiple times in all four seasons of his playing career.
At the near-halfway point of the regular season, Edwards leads the conference in a number of statistical categories, including passing yards (1296), passing touchdowns (11), passing efficiency (151.7), total offensive yardage (1578) and total touchdowns (14). He is second among all NCAA Division II players in career passing yards (8951) and surpassed 10,000 yards of offense in his career in Saturday's victory (10,121).
