ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Reddies Women's Basketball program opens their 2025-26 season at home against Texas A&M-Texarkana Friday, November 14th at 5:30 PM in the Duke Wells Center.
REDDIES REPORT
The Reddies enter the 2025-26 season picked ninth in the GAC Preseason Poll after finishing last year 9-19 overall and 7-15 in conference games. The Reddies have six returning players from last season, with a need to replace starters
Bobbi Bazzle,
Makenna Winans, and
Michaela Mayfield.
Among the six returning players are All-GAC Honorable Mentions
Brynlee Huggins and
Natalie Cardenas. Cardenas led the team and finished fifth in the conference with 15.1 points per game. Huggins led the team in total points, recording 384 on the season, averaging 13.7 points per game. Also returning is USA D2 Women's National Team member
Sam Basson,
Riley Samples, and second-year players
Marlee Raby and
Miyah Caffey.
Looking to replace the three starters, the Reddies added two new transfers as
Grayson Fairless and Jayda Lewis join from Ouachita Baptist and University of Texas-Dallas. Fairless averaged 9.9 minutes over 23 games for OBU, scoring 72 points and recording 56 rebounds, while Lewis logged 29 points and 39 rebounds in 22 appearances for UT-Dallas. Coach Thomas also brought in seven freshmen to round out the roster.
This is the first time the Reddies Women's Basketball program has faced TAMUT, and the second meeting between Henderson State and TAMUT this year.
SCOUTING TEXAS A&M-TEXARKANA
Texas A&M-Texarkana went 0-2 in their last two contests, losing to Oklahoma Wesleyan (52-49) and Langston (59-44). TAMUT went 9-19 in the 2024-25 regular season and finished 9-15 in the RRAC.
The Eagles were selected 6th in the RRAC Preseason Poll, with two of their top-five scorers returning. Of those two returning players, Guard Treasure Emeh, who is currently tied for the team's leading scorer, with 32 points, finished fifth in scoring with 165 points last season. Emeh currently leads the team in rebounds (21) and second in assists (4).
