Women's Basketball to Face Northeastern State Riverhawks

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Reddies are coming off a victory against Mississippi College last Wednesday, besting the Choctaws 83-67. They host the Riverhawks of Northeastern State tomorrow night at 5:30 PM in the Duke Wells Center.

Natalie Cardenas leads the Reddies in scoring, averaging 23 points per game, shooting 43.3 percent from the floor, and 30.8 percent from beyond the three-point line. Macy Willis continues to have a strong start to her freshman season, as she averages 22 points per game on 53.8 percent shooting and 60 percent from beyond the arc.

Grayson Fairless leads the Reddies in rebounds so far this season, averaging 15 rebounds per game. Most of those rebounds come on the offensive side of the court, which leads to her 14 points per game average. She has been adept at finishing in the paint with a 55.6 percent shooting percentage.

Henderson State and Northeastern State have clashed twice before, with the Reddies falling 70-61 in the last meeting last season in Tahlequah. The Reddies are 1-0 when hosting Northeastern State, last winning 69-56.

Northeastern State is coming off a week where they went 3-0, defeating Ouachita Baptist (74-58), MSU Denver (78-68) and Southwest Baptist (76-61).

The Riverhawks are led on offense by Annaston Brown, who is averaging 14.2 points per game while shooting 54.2 percent from the floor, and 41.9 percent from beyond the arc. McKenzie Smith ranks second, averaging 13.8 points per game, shooting 45.0 percent from the floor and 77.8 percent from the free-throw line.

Smith is leading the Riverhawks in rebounds, averaging 6.4 rebounds per game, mostly on the defensive side, Deyanna Douglas ranks second, averaging 6.0 rebounds per game. Most rebounds come from the defensive side, and the Riverhawks struggle to rebound in the paint offensively.

The Riverhawks have forced 89 turnovers so far this season, and committed 80, good for a 1.8 turnover margin. The Reddies take care of the ball well, only committing 30 turnovers this season, while forcing 40.
