Reddies to Host East Central in Home GAC Contest

2025-26 Women's Basketball Game Notes

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Reddies Women's Basketball team is set to host East Central tomorrow for their second GAC contest of the season after besting Southeastern Oklahoma State last night 91-58. Tip off is at 1 PM in the Duke Wells Center.

The Reddie offense is led by Natalie Cardenas, who is averaging 21.0 points per game, which ranks second in the GAC. Brynlee Huggins, after a 23-point performance against Southeastern Oklahoma State, ranks second on the team and fifth in the GAC in points per game (16.2). The main distributor for the Reddie offense is Sam Basson, who is averaging a team-leading 3.6 assists per game, good for fifth in the GAC.

Henderson State leads the GAC in rebounds per game with 44.6. They rank second in offensive rebounds per game (15.8) and fourth in defensive (28.8). Grayson Fairless leads the GAC in rebounds per game (14.2), while also ranking first in offensive rebounds (38) and fifth in defensive rebounds (33).

The Reddies have been protecting the ball well so far this season, as they rank second in the GAC with the fewest turnovers committed with 71.

The Reddies won the last time they met East Central, defeating the Tigers 74-68 at home. When playing at home in the Duke Wells Center, HSU is 7-6 against East Central, and is 15-12 all-time.

Scouting East Central
East Central faced Ouachita Baptist earlier this week, ultimately losing 76-52.

Rylee Burnett leads the Tiger offense, as she leads the team averaging 10.2 points per game, while shooting 37.8 percent from the floor, and 31.6 percent from beyond the arc. Burnett is the only player for East Central averaging more than 10 points per game.

Rebounds are a weakness of this East Central team, as they're averaging the second-least amount of rebounds per game (34.6), with offensive rebounds being the biggest difficulty, as the Tigers have recorded only 45 offensive rebounds so far this season, ranking second to last in the GAC.

The Tiger defense is strong, as they are holding opponents to the fifth lowest field goal percentage (37.1) in the GAC. They are also holding opponents to the third lowest average points per game in the GAC (54.6). They are also limiting Rebounds by opponents, granting only 33.2 rebounds per game.
