RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - The Great American Conference named Jersey Cabana its first GAC Pitcher of the Week for 2025 on Monday.
Cabana earned the honor by going 3-0 with three complete games - two of which were shutouts - in her first weekend as a pitcher for Henderson State. In her HSU debut versus Northeastern State, she went the distance after allowing just two earned runs and striking out seven batters. The following day against Missouri S&T, the San Dimas, California, native surrendered no runs while posting a complete game one-hitter. On Sunday, Cabana closed out the Hawkins-McGhee Memorial Tournament by throwing all nine innings and allowing just two hits in a 1-0 extra-inning victory over the Miners.
In all, Cabana posted a 0.61 earned run average and a .133 opposing batting average across 23 innings of work during the first three days of the season. She struck out 11 batters and allowed only two extra-base hits on the weekend (both being doubles).
This is Henderson's first Pitcher of the Week Award since 2019, with the last being claimed by Reddie Hall of Honor member Michelle Sorensen.
Jersey and her teammates will be back in action this Friday, February 7, with a doubleheader against Lane College at Dee White Field. Game one is set to begin at 2:00 p.m.
