Box Score 2 WEATHERFORD, Okla. – The Reddies drop both games of the doubleheader on the road, falling 9-4 in game one and a tight 3-2 loss in game two.
With GAC Tournament implication on the line the Reddies struggled to find momentum to steal a win on the road. The series loss sets up a massive road series next weekend versus East Central.
In game one the Reddies fell behind early to the Bulldogs, trailing 3-0 going into the third inning. In the third inning the Reddies returned the favor, scoring four runs including a
Jay Albiter solo home run. HSU tacked on three more runs thanks to a double by
Hilary Akers scoring
Mackenzie Williams and a
Josie Copeland single scoring two.
The Reddie bats went quiet in the remaining four innings while the Bulldogs added six more runs to win 9-4.
Brooke Johnson (3-6) started in the circle for the Reddies, pitching five innings while striking out three.
Game two was a much closer affair with the Reddies plating two in the second inning and holding a two-run lead until the fifth inning.
Copeland and
Raylee Carey led the Reddies in game two, each scoring a run. Copeland batted 2-4 with two singles while Carey did the same. Outside of Copeland and Carey the Reddies added just two other hits.
Presley Applegate (5-2) earned the start, going six innings and striking out three batters. The Bulldogs scored their only three runs in the final two innings.
The Reddies quickly move on to a midweek doubleheader versus Delta State before a pivotal GAC series in Ada, Oklahoma next weekend.
