Women's Golf Finishes Second at Central Regional, Advances to Fourth-Straight NCAA Nationals

FINAL LEADERBOARD

EDMOND, Okla. — The No. 22 Henderson State Reddies held steady on Wednesday in the final round of the Central Region Championship, held at KickingBird Golf Club in Edmond. The Reddies shot 8-over par 288 to finish second, just 12 strokes behind winner Central Missouri.

With the second place finish, the Reddies qualify for the NCAA Division II National Championships, which will be played next week at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada on May 13-17. It will be the fourth consecutive trip to the NCAA Finals for the Henderson State women's golf program. The Reddies have reached match play in each of the last two seasons.

Paulina Narvaez paced Henderson in round 3, shooting a 71 to jump 14 spots on the individual leaderboard. The Guanajuato, Mexico native birdied two of her first three holes on the back nine to move her way up the standings.

Lily Nelson and Madolyn Kost each fired a two over par 72. Nelson's best holes came on the front nine, with two birdies helping the cause; she made pars of seven of the back nine holes to help HSU stave off a bevy of teams behind them that tried to make a charge. Kost used her length to her advantage, with a birdie on the par 5 15th hole aiding her in shooting one under in the last eight holes.

Felisa Sajulga carried momentum from her second round, shooting a three over par 73 to end in seventh place on the individual scoreboard. The GAC Player of the Year continued her streak of three consecutive tournaments finishing in the top 10, after a pair of first place finishes at the GAC Championship and the Central Region Preview.

GAC Newcomer of the Year Cloe Poizac rounded out the scoring with a 76. The freshman, who played in the final group as one of the top three scorers after 36 holes, was able to maintain her top 10 standing, finishing in ninth place.
