STORYLINES: SETTING THE SCENE
Henderson State looks to win their third consecutive game to open the season and their sixth consecutive game against Arkansas-Monticello in their second of back-to-back road games. The Reddies have won five consecutive against the Boll Weevils and 14 of the last 15 matchups between the teams. HSU has not lost in Monticello since 2000, and that loss has been the only loss for the Reddies in Monticello in the NCAA Division 2 era for both schools.
The UAM Boll Weevils are still looking for their first win of the season after starting the year 0-2. The Weevils have lost to Southeastern Oklahoma (44-13) and East Central (38-13). They rank 10th in the GAC in both offense and defense.

REDDIES REPORT: OFFENSE
The Reddies enter the early season affair with one of the best statistical offenses in the country in several major categories. Henderson ranks 13th in Division 2 in passing offense, while quarterback
Andrew Edwards is 7th in the country in total offense.
Edwards has picked up right where he left off in 2024, leading the league in both total offense and passing offense. His 640 passing yards is nearly 250 yards better than the second best passer. The redshirt senior also leads the league in passing efficiency.
Freshman receiver
Maddox Davis is second in the nation in yards received in a single game. The freshman from Benton, Arkansas had 219 yards on nine receptions in last week's win, including the 94-yard touchdown on the second Reddie offensive play of the game. Davis's 219 yards are the sixth most receiving yards in a game in program history.
Not to be forgotten in the Reddie offense is senior tight end
Cayden Davis. Last year's All-American is second in the league in receiving behind his own teammate. The Caddo Mills, Texas native has 178 yards receiving through two games, averaging 89 yards per game on 5.5 receptions.
One of the things the Reddies have done best so far this season is keep drives going; the offense has the fifth-best third-down conversion rate in the country, converting nearly 58 percent of third-down plays.

REDDIES REPORT: DEFENSE – SPECIAL TEAMS
The Reddie defense has been on of the strongest nationally in terms of defending the pass. Henderson's secondary has the third-best defensive passing efficiency in all of Division 2, all while having the third-most interceptions across the division.
Linebacker
Gerard Culotta leads the team in tackles with 12. He is one of 11 different Reddie players to record a tackle for loss through two games, with seven different players recording a sack. 30 different Henderson players have recorded tackles. Henderson leads the GAC in both sacks and interceptions.
Defensive backs have shared the wealth with takeaways, with five different players recording at least one interception. Senior
Kolbi Crawford is the lone HSU player with multiple interceptions through two games (2).
Special teams have been a strong suit for the Reddies so far this season. Kicker
Ryan McDonnell already has the fourth-longest made field goal in the country through two games.
Taylin Paskel's punt return for a touchdown in week one is the second-longest punt return in the country as well.
While the point production of special teams is well recognized throughout the nation, Henderson has also quietly produced the seventh-best kick return coverage in Division 2, allowing just 11 yards per kickoff return.
THE COACHING MATCHUP
Henderson State head coachÂ
Greg Holsworth enters his second season as head football coach, and looks to improve upon last season's 8-3 campaign. The eight wins were the most by a first year head coach in program history, and also provided the best winning percentage by a first year coach in school history.Â
Hud Jackson is in his 14th season as head coach of Arkansas-Monticello. His 48 wins are second most in program history, trailing only Tommy Barnes, who served as the Weevils coach from 1985-1996.
