TYLER, Texas. – The Reddies began their Fall 2025 season this weekend at the Tyler Invite, hosted by the University of Texas, Tyler.
The tournament featured a draw of 34 players. The tournament included women's open singles and women's open doubles.
"We faced some tough competition this weekend, and I'm happy with the way we competed" said coach
Annabel Harvey, "We tried some new things in doubles and know what we need to work on to prepare for ITA Regionals in two weeks' time."
Women's Open Singles
Newcomers
Emilia Nowak and
Jordan Parker made their Henderson debut, with Nowak collecting her first win as a Reddie, winning the first set 6-2 then losing the second 6-1. During the tiebreaker, Nowak was able to defeat her opponent 10-5 to secure the match win. Sophomore
Adiya Abdugappar captured a win in the Flight three consolation semi-final winning 6-2, then losing 2-6, forcing a tiebreaker also, which Abdugappar won 10-8 to secure a place in the flight 3 consolation final.
Angela Dorado Marin secured a win against University of Texas, Tyler 7-6, 7-6 in Flight 2.
Women's Open Doubles
Emilia Nowak continued to capture wins, this time in the doubles open Flight Two, where she was paired with
Jenna Kate Bohnert. In their first match, they defeated the hosts University of Texas, Tyler 8-4. They followed that up with another win against Central Oklahoma 8-3 to qualify for the finals. They proceeded to capture the Flight Two win against Mississippi College, going 8-7, and then 7-3 in the tiebreaker to secure the victory.
