Women's Basketball Take to the Road for Matchup with East Central

2025-26 Women's Basketball Game Notes

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Reddie Women's Basketball team will end their weather-related hiatus on the road in Ada, Oklahoma, where they'll go up against the Tigers of East Central for the second time this season. Tip off is scheduled for 5:30 PM in the Kerr Activities Center.

Henderson State lost at Ouachita Baptist last Thursday, falling 56-89.

This Reddie offense has quietly become one of the best in the GAC, as it ranks second in points per game (74.4), while shooting 41.2 percent from the field, the fourth-best in the conference. Natalie Cardenas is the lead scorer for Henderson State, ranking second in the GAC with a 19.9 points per game mark.

Henderson State leads the GAC in three-point percentage (35.3), while attempting the fourth-lowest amount of threes this season. Brynlee Huggins leads the Reddies, and ranks sixth in the GAC with a 40.2 shooting percentage from three.

The Reddies are the third-best rebounding team in the GAC, averaging 39.0 rebounds per game, while limiting opponents to 36.4 rebounds per game. Grayson Fairless leads the team and the GAC in rebounds per game (11.9), the only player averaging 10 or more rebounds in the conference.

Henderson State protects the ball well, as they have given up the fewest turnovers in the GAC, surrendering the ball only 194 times, while opponents are averaging 14.7 points off of turnovers.

Scouting East Central
The Tigers of East Central faced off against Southeastern Oklahoma State last Thursday, and lost 62-64.

East Central's offense is one of the weakest in the conference, averaging 61.4 points per game, while shooting 38.7 percent from the field. This team struggles to shoot from three, as they rank last in the GAC while shooting 28.9 percent. Katie Edelen leads the team individually, and ranks fifth in the GAC, averaging 12.0 points per game.

Defense is where this East Central team excels, as they are holding opponents to the second-lowest average in the GAC of 60.7 points per game, and the fourth-lowest shooting percentage of the GAC (37.9) from the floor.

The Tigers' rebounding is a struggle, as they rank in the bottom-half in the conference, averaging 36.7 rebounds per game. Katie Edelen leads the team, averaging 7.3 rebounds per game, which ranks fifth in the GAC.

Turnovers are not a significant part of the East Central's game, as they have given up the second-fewest turnovers in the GAC, behind Henderson State (206), while forcing the third-fewest turnovers in the conference (213). They are averaging 11.9 points off of turnovers.

The Reddies defeated East Central the last time they met, winning 77-63. When playing in Ada, since 2011-12, HSU is 7-6 against ECU, and is 16-15 all time.
