2025-26 Women's Basketball Game Notes
ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Reddies are set to go on the road for the first time in 2026, stopping in Weatherford to face Southwestern Oklahoma State. Tip off for Thursday is at 5:30 PM.
(RV) Henderson State opened 2026 with a victory at home against Arkansas-Monticello, defeating the Blossoms 76-41.
The Reddie offense is led by
Natalie Cardenas, who is leading the team and the GAC in points per game (20.3).
Brynlee Huggins ranks second on the team and nineth in the GAC in points per game (13.9). The main distributor for the Reddie offense is
Sam Basson, who is averaging a team-leading 3.0 assists per game, good for sixth in the GAC.
Henderson State is one of the stronger rebounding team in the GAC, as they are ranked third, averaging 39.4 rebounds per game, ranking fourth in offensive rebounds (12.3) and third in defensive rebounds (27.1).
Grayson Fairless leads the GAC and the Reddies with 12.1 reboudns per game, the only player to average more than 10 rebounds per game.
The Reddies take care of the ball well as they rank last in the GAC in turnovers, only committing 122 so far this season. Opponents are only averaging 13.6 points off of turnovers this season.
Scouting Southwestern Oklahoma State
The Bulldogs defeated East Central to open 2026, besting the Tigers 61-60.
The Bulldog offense is led by Landry Allen, who is averaging 13.8 points per game, shooting 44.9 percent from the field. Sincere Jackson ranks second on the team, averaging 13.6 points per game. The offense struggles in scoring this season, as they rank fourth to last in points per game in the GAC (62.4).
SWOSU is a strong rebounding team, as they rank second in the GAC in rebounds per game (39.7). Elle Papahronis leads the Bulldogs, averaging 9.6 rebounds per game, which ranks second in the GAC.
The SWOSU defense is one of the best in the GAC, holding other teams to 36.2 percent shooting from the floor, and only 30.9 percent from beyond the arc. Landry Allen leads the GAC in blocks, averaging 4.1 blocks per game, and ranks third in the nation.
The Bulldogs force turnovers, as they have three players with 20 or more steals on the season. Led by Elle Papahronis who ranks second in the GAC with 22.
The Reddies lost the last time they played the Bulldogs in Weatherford, falling 64-60. When playing in the Pioneer Cellular Event Center, since the 2011-12 season, HSU is 2-11 against SWOSU, and is 11-22 all-time.
