Women's Basketball 2025-26 Game Notes

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Reddies continue their first road trip of 2026 in Alva, Oklahoma, where they will face the #15 ranked Northwestern Oklahoma State. Tip off is at 1:00 PM in the Percefull Fieldhouse.

(RV) Henderson State faced Southwestern Oklahoma State on Thursday, defeating the Bulldogs 83-65.

The Reddie offense is led by Natalie Cardenas, who is leading the team and ranks second in the GAC in points per game (20.3). Brynlee Huggins ranks second on the team and seventh in the GAC in points per game (15.2). The main distributor for the Reddie offense is Sam Basson, who is averaging a team-leading 2.8 assists per game, good for eighth in the GAC.

Henderson State is one of the stronger rebounding team in the GAC, as they are ranked third, averaging 39.5 rebounds per game, ranking fifth in offensive rebounds (12.2) and third in defensive rebounds (27.4). Grayson Fairless leads the Reddies with 12.2 rebounds per game, and is the only player in the GAC averaging more than 10 rebounds per game.

The Reddies take care of the ball well as they rank last in the GAC in turnovers, only committing 140 so far this season. Opponents are only averaging 14.5 points off of turnovers this season.

Scouting Northwestern Oklahoma State

#15 Northwestern faced off against the Tigers of Ouachita Baptist on Thursday, ultimately suffering their first loss to a GAC opponent, 68-64

The Ranger offense is led by Kira Bass, who is averaging 18.1 points per game, which ranks third in the GAC. Conley Cayot ranks second on the team, averaging 10.5 points per game. The offense has scored the most points in the GAC, while averaging the third highest points per game (73.9).

Northwestern is the best rebounding team in the GAC, as they rank first in rebounds per game (40.6), while limiting opponents to the lowest rebounds per game in the GAC (29.2). Bass leads the Rangers, averaging 8.7 rebounds per game, which ranks fourth in the GAC.

The Ranger defense is one of the best in the GAC, holding other teams to a conference lowest 34.6 percent shooting from the floor, and only 30.3 percent from beyond the arc. 

Northwestern has forced the most turnovers in the GAC (247) while averaging 19.0 turnovers per game. They are averaging 22.8 points off of those turnovers.

The Reddies lost the last time they played the Rangers in Alva, falling 81-45. When playing in the Percefull Fieldhouse, and HSU is 13-11 against Northwestern all-time.
