LADY REDDIES TO FACE SWOSU IN A KEY GAC TILT

Henderson State hits the road on Thursday as the Lady Reddies travel to Weatherford, Okla. to face Southwestern Oklahoma with tipoff set for 5:30 p.m.

The Lady Reddies will then head to the northwest corner of the state to face Northwestern Oklahoma in Alva, Okla. on Saturday with tip off set for 2 p.m.

Thursday's game between the Lady Reddies and the Lady Bulldogs will feature the top two 3-point shooters in the Great American Conference, Henderson's Aungelique Sledge and SWOSU's Michelle Fisher.

Sledge is averaging 3.7 3-point field goals per game, while Fisher knocks down 3.0 long-range shots per contest.

The Lady Reddies improved to 9-3 overall and 4-2 in the GAC after an impressive 83-65 win over Arkansas Tech last Saturday.

Henderson State is shooting 40 percent from the field while averaging 70.5 points per game.

Sledge, who leads the GAC in scoring and ranks 10th nationally, averages 22.6 points per game after her 34 point performance against Arkansas Tech.

The junior from West Helena, Ark. set a school record with eight 3-point field goals and leads the GAC in 3-point shooting percentage having made 44-of-98 for 45 percent.

Krystal Beachum follows, averaging 11.8 points per contest including 5.6 rebounds per game. Beachum totaled 8 points and pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds in Henderson's last outing against Arkansas Tech.

Dulincia Keener and Tiara Davis both rank near the top of the GAC in rebounding with more than 7.0 boards per game.


Southwestern Oklahoma suffered back-to-back defeats last week against Southeastern Oklahoma and East Central. The Lady Bulldogs are 6-6 overall and 3-3 in GAC play.

Southwestern Oklahoma can put up some points as the Lady Bulldogs lead the GAC in scoring, averaging 84.4 points per game.

Fisher leads the team and is third in the GAC in scoring, averaging 17.9 points per contest. Fisher shoots 39 percent from beyond the arc having made 36 of 92 attempts.

Taryn Sayama follows averaging 10.1 points per game.

Henderson State and Southwestern Oklahoma meet for the seventh time in a series that began in 2009. The Lady Bulldogs lead the series with a 4-2 advantage, including winning the last four straight. The Lady Reddies are 0-2 against the Lady Bulldogs in Weatherford.
