Henderson State began its two game road swing in Oklahoma with a 90-82 loss to Southwestern Oklahoma, Thursday in Weatherford, Okla.
Henderson State, 9-4 overall and 4-3 in the Great American Conference, had a difficult shooting night making just 27-of-83 shots from the field for a dismal 32.5 percent.
Despite making just 11-of-40 shots in the first-half, Henderson State only trailed 35-34 at the break thanks to the play of
Krystal Beachum's 14 points and
Jasmine Settles' 8 points.
In the second-half, the Lady Bulldogs went on several runs and threatened to pull away from Henderson State, but the Lady Reddies continued to fight back with the assistance of some key 3-pointers by
Aungelique Sledge and Beachum.
However, a late rally by SWOSU was too much to overcome for Henderson State as the Lady Bulldogs pushed their lead back to 12 points with 1:12 to play thanks to Sarah Mandoza's free throw shooting down the stretch.
Beachum's big game concluded with her second double-double of the season as the senior from Mexia, Texas scored 26 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.
After scoring just 3 points in the first-half, Sledge totaled 17 points for the game and hit 4-of-7 3-point field goals.
Settles scored a career-best 17 points while
Dulincia Keener scored 10 points and completed the double-double with 10 rebounds.
Henderson State will continue its Oklahoma road trip when the Lady Reddie travel to Alva on Saturday to face Northwestern Oklahoma with tip-off set for 2 p.m.
