Henderson State remained unbeaten at the Duke Wells Center as the Lady Reddies beat Southern Arkansas 98-87 Tuesday in Arkadelphia, Ark.
The Lady Reddies, 10-5 overall and 5-4 in the Great American Conference, ran their record to 7-0 this season at home.
In a fast paced first-half the Lady Reddies had a 48-39 advantage at the break with the help of some hot shooting from behind the 3-point arc.
Henderson State was 8-of-13 from three point range in the first 20 minutes, with
Aungelique Sledge and
Jasmine Settles both having 3 long-range jumpers.
The two teams continued with solid shooting in the second half as Henderson State outscored SAU 50 to 48 in the final 20 minutes.
Sledge ended the game with 34 points including 5-of-10 shooting from 3-point range. The junior from West Helena, Ark. went over the 30-point mark for the sixth time this season.
Tiara Davis was strong off the bench going 11-of-15 from the field and ended with 22 points and 7 rebounds.
Krystal Beachum also scored in double-figures with 15 points along with 8 rebounds.
Settles scored 12 points in the first-half and ended the game with 14 points along with 5 assists.
Henderson State had an incredible 23 assists with
Taylor Washington having a team-best seven to go along with six points.
Chanel Miller had a career-high 34 points for Southern Arkansas.
The Lady Reddies ended the game shooting 53 percent from the field, making 34-of-64 shots, while Southern Arkansas was 35-of-73 for 48 percent from the floor.
Henderson State will next play host to Ouachita Baptist in the Southern Bancorp Battle of the Ravine on Thursday with tip-off set for 5:30 p.m. at the Duke Wells Center.
