LADY REDDIES WIN SIXTH STRAIGHT

Henderson State extended its winning streak to six games as the Lady Reddies beat Southern Nazarene 86-71, Saturday in Arkadelphia, Ark.

Henderson State, 8-2 overall and 3-1 in the Great American Conference, remained undefeated at home winning its fifth game of the season at the Duke Wells Center.

The Lady Reddies controlled the game from the start jumping out to an 8-0 lead with the help of a pair of 3-point field goals by Vanessa Pieper and Aungelique Sledge.

Southern Nazarene cut the deficit to 22-19 before Henderson State closed out the half going on a 22-7 run to build a 44-26 advantage at the break.

Sledge was the driving force to Henderson's big first-half scoring 24 points and grabbing 8 rebounds in the first 20 minutes.

The junior from West Helena, Ark. was 9-for-13 from the field in the period and was perfect from behind the arc, knocking down five 3-pointers.

Henderson State maintained its double-digit cushion in second half as the Lady Reddies converted on 18-of-22 from the foul line.

Sledge ended the game with a career-high 36 points and tied a Henderson State record for 3-point field goals made with seven. Sledge was 7-for-7 from beyond the arc setting a HSU record for 3-point field goal percentage in a game.

Krystal Beachum scored 15 points and pulled down 5 rebounds, while Pieper totaled 12 points.

Aminata Fall led Southern Nazarene with 21 points and 11 rebounds, while Kristin Milster added 20 points and 10 boards.

Henderson State ended the game hitting on 24-of-56 from the field for a shooting percentage of 43, while Southern Nazarene converted on 25-of-76 shooting for 33 percent.

Henderson State will next travel to Searcy, Ark. on Jan. 9 to face Harding with tipoff set for 5:30 p.m. at the Rhodes Field House.
