Henderson State opened Great American Conference play dropping a double-header to East Central Oklahoma 6-3 and 7-3, Friday afternoon at Dee White Field.
In the opener, Henderson State built 3-0 lead through six innings before the Tigers erupted for six runs in the top half of the seventh.
The Lady Reddies, 4-9 overall and 0-2 in the GAC, took a 1-0 lead in the first-inning when
Amber Klug singled home
Amy Halter who led off the game with a single to center field.
Henderson made the score 3-0 in the fifth-inning when
Jaylin Baldridge and
Kailey Johnson had back-to-back solo home runs.
East Central scored six runs with two outs in the seventh-inning with the big hit being a three-run double by Lauren Reeves.
In the second game, the Tigers banged out 19 hits including a grand slam by Reeves in the fourth-inning.
The Lady Reddies plated a run in the second on a sacrifice fly by
Ashlyn White, driving in Klug who led off the inning with a double.
Henderson scored two more runs in the sixth on RBI singles by White and
Morgan South.
White was 3-for-5 in the twin bill with a pair of RBI, while Klug and Halter added two hits each.
The two teams will finish the four-game series with a double-header Saturday beginning at 11 a.m.
