HSU SOFTBALL SERIES VS. UAM BEGINS FRIDAY

Henderson State will play its second Great American Conference softball series this weekend as the Lady Reddies play host to Arkansas-Monticello beginning Friday at 10 a.m. at Dee White Field.

The four-game series was originally to begin on Saturday, however due to possible inclement weather for the weekend, coaches agreed to move up the series a day. Following Friday's double-header, the two teams will play a Saturday twin bill beginning at 1 p.m.

Henderson State, 5-10 overall and 1-3 in the GAC, enters the series with a .295 team batting average while averaging 4.7 runs per game.

Three Lady Reddies are hitting above .400 with Ashlyn White leading the team with a .467 average (14-for-30). White leads the team in home runs with two, while compiling 11 RBI.

Amber Klug is hitting .409 (18-for-44) and leads the team in doubles with four, while Tricia Hock is hitting .400 (18-for-45) and is tops on the team in runs scored with 15.

Henderson State pitchers have had their troubles this season with the team having a 5.53 earned run average which ranks last in the conference.

Kayla Williams sports a 4.42 ERA and leads the team in innings pitched with 36.1. Williams has struck out 10 batters this season and has a 1-3 record.

Ashlyn White has appeared in 10 games and has a 1-3 record. White sports a 7.10 ERA in 23.2 innings of work.

Arkansas-Monticello is 10-5 overall and 3-1 in GAC play. The Cotton Blossoms have a team .316 batting average and have compiled 26 doubles along with 14 home runs this season.

Kali Piha leads the team with a .469 average which includes seven doubles, three home runs and 15 RBI.

The UAM pitching staff is second in the league in earned run average at 2.58.

Katie Slaughter and Courtney Wilson are UAM's top pitchers with Slaughter having a 5-3 record with a 2.49 ERA, while Wilson is 5-2 with an ERA of 2.73.
