Henderson State collected 25 hits in sweeping a double-header from Northwestern Oklahoma State in Great American Conference softball action, Saturday in Alva, Okla.
After losing a double-header to the Rangers on Friday, the Lady Reddies rebounded to win 6-3 and 8-6 to salvage a split in the four-game series and remain in third-place in the GAC.
Trailing 3-2 in the opener, Henderson State tied the game in the fourth-inning as
Alicia Zack singled to drive in Jaylyn Baldridge who also singled in the inning.
The Lady Reddies took the lead on a sacrifice fly by
Ashlyn White in the fifth and added two more runs in the sixth as Henderson put together five hits in the frame.
Amy Halter, Zack,
Tricia Hock and
Kayla Williams all had singles to begin the inning with Hock driving in the first run. White later drove in Henderson's final run with a single to plate Zack.
Cagen Medlock recorded a complete game win in the circle, giving up six hits and striking out five batters to improve to 6-3 on the season.
In the final game of the series, Henderson scored four runs in the second-inning with the big hit being a three-run double by Zack. Zack then scored on a Hock single up the middle.
NWOSU, 20-8 and 10-4, regained the lead in the third-inning scoring four runs to take a 5-4 lead.
The Lady Reddies tied the score at 5-5 in the fourth-inning and went ahead 8-5 with three runs in the sixth.
Henderson State, 17-14 and 13-7 in league play, got big hits from Zack, Hock and
Amber Klug in the frame while also taking advantage of a NWOSU error.
The Rangers scored a run in the sixth and attempted to put together a rally, but Medlock entered the game to pitch and shut down NWOSU the final 1 2/3 innings to pick up the save.
Ashlyn White was credited with the win in a relief role, going 2 2/3 innings to improve to 4-2 on the year.
Halter was 5-for-8 in the twin bill while Zack and Hock both went 4-for-8. Zack had a double, scored three runs and had four runs batted in, while Hock scored a pair of runs and had two RBI.
Henderson State returns home Tuesday to face Ouachita Baptist in a Great American Conference double-header at Dee White Field beginning at 1 p.m.
