HSU Softball to Host OBU in Southern Bancorp Battle of the Ravine

Henderson State will put its nine-game home winning streak on the line on Tuesday, when the Lady Reddie softball team plays host to Ouachita Baptist in the Southern Bancorp Battle of the Ravine at Dee White Field with first pitch set for 1 p.m.

The Lady Reddies are currently in third-place in the Great American Conference standings with a 17-14 record overall and a 13-7 mark in league play.

Henderson State ranks second in the GAC offensively with a .320 team batting average.

Seven Lady Reddies are hitting above .300 with Ashlyn White leading the way with a .388 average. The freshman from Longview, Texas ranks eighth in the GAC in runs batted in with 25.

Amber Klug has a .385 average on the season and has gone 10-for-25 in the last 10 games. The senior from Kingwood, Texas has driven in 15 runs on the year and has hit seven doubles.

Tricia Hock is fourth in the GAC in runs scored with 29 while having a .383 average, while Sarah Gipson is hitting .351 with a team-best 26 RBI.

Kayla Williams and Cagen Medlock will start in the circle for the Lady Reddies.

Williams is 5-7 on the year with a 5.30 ERA, while Medlock is 6-3 and has struck out a team-best 40 batters.

Ouachita Baptist, 11-21 overall and 8-13 in the GAC, has a .288 team batting average and are led by Kayley Willingham who is hitting .390 on the season.

Kailey Madden follows with a .387 average along with a team-best nine doubles, four home runs and 20 runs batted in.

The Lady Reddies will face a pitching staff that has a combined earned run average of 4.93.

Abbi Frakes is 8-9 on the season and sports a 3.87 ERA. In 121 innings of work, the senior from Plano, Texas has struck out 81 batters.

Shelby McWhorter is also expected to pitch for the Lady Tigers. McWhorter has compiled a 4.67 ERA and is 2-6 on the season.
