Lady Reddies Drops Two Games To SEOSU, Plays ATU in GAC Tournament

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Henderson State finished its regular-season softball schedule with a pair of losses to Southeastern Oklahoma 6-2 and 7-6, Saturday in Durant, Okla.

Henderson State, 28-23 overall and 24-16 in the Great American Conference, will enter next week's GAC Tournament as the No. 3 seed and open post-season play against Arkansas Tech on Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Tiger Athletic Complex in Bentonville, Ark.

SEOSU built a 6-0 lead in game one before Amber Klug and Ashlyn White both hit solo home runs to end Mindy McElroy's bid for a shutout.

In game two, Henderson built a 4-0 lead in the first-inning aided by a three-run homer by Morgan South. It was South's second three-run blast in as many days.

In the bottom of the fourth, SEOSU scored three runs in the inning to tie the score at 4-4. The big hit of the frame was a three-run double by Lacie Cook.

The Savage Storm broke the tie in the sixth-inning, scoring three runs in the frame getting a solo home run from Lauren Renneker and a RBI single by Haley Strawn.

The Lady Reddies made things interesting in the top of seventh-inning with a pair of runs.

Amber Klug led off things with a double followed by a single by Sarah Gipson to put runners on the corners. White then plated Klug with a single and Gipson later scored on a sacrifice fly by Jaylin Baldridge. However, McElroy picked up her only strikeout of the contest to end the game and hold on for the 7-6 win.

Henderson State had 13 hits in the game with Tricia Hock having three safeties, while Gipson, White and South had two hits each.
