Box Score 2 In a pair of pitcher's duals, Henderson State dropped two games to East Central 1-0 and 2-1, Saturday in softball action in Ada, Okla.
It took extra-innings for both games to be decided as the Tigers got a run-scoring single by Peyton Watson to win the opener, then a walk-off home run by Jordynn VanPelt in the finale.
The two teams split the four-game series after the Reddies won a double-header on Friday.
Ashlyn White pitched the opener for the Reddies allowing just five hits in suffering the loss and falling to 4-2.
The Reddies, 11-5 overall and 2-2 in the GAC, managed three hits in the game with White,
Taylor Daniels, and
Caroline Cullins all having singles.
Henderson's biggest threat came in the first-inning as the Reddies loaded the bases but were unable to plate a run.
In game two, Henderson had a chance for a big inning in the third as Kiersten Seahorn led off the inning with a double.
After Cullins reached on an error,
Alicia Zack singled to load the bases. Back-to-back fielder's choice plays with both Seahorn and Cullins being out at the plate set up
Sarah Gipson with two outs.
Gipson would walk to score a run, but the Tigers were able to get out of the inning by retiring White on a ground out to first.
East Central, 5-7 overall and 2-2 in league play, would score an unearned run in the fourth-inning to tie the score.
ECU pitcher Sydney Dow would hold the Reddies in check the rest of the way retiring 10 straight batters to pick up the win.
Michelle Sorensen suffered the loss in the circle for Henderson, allowing five hits while striking out seven batters.
The Reddies totaled four hits in the game with
Tricia Hock,
Amy Halter, and Zack having singles and Seahorn a double.
Henderson State will next travel to Monticello, Ark. for a four-game GAC series beginning on Saturday, Feb. 28.
