Box Score 2 The Henderson State softball team totaled 32 runs on 35 hits in a pair of wins over Lincoln and Missouri Southern State, Sunday at Dee White Field in Arkadelphia, Ark.
The Reddies, 5-3 on the season, run-ruled both teams by beating Lincoln 18-2 before shutting out MSSU 14-0.
Henderson State totaled 22 hits in the first game, just 1 shy of the Reddie single game record of 23 set back in 2006 against Tuskegee.
Amy Halter and
Tricia Hock both went 5-for-7 in the twin bill with Halter scoring six runs, while Hock scored four runs to go along with a double.
Sarah Gipson also had five hits in eight at-bats. Gipson scored six runs, had two doubles and 5 RBI.
Ashlyn White and
Morgan South both went 4-for-5 with White having a home run while driving home five runs. South scored four runs, smacked a home run of her own while also totaling 7 RBI.
Keirsten Seahorn and
Alicia Zack also had a productive day at the plate as Seahorn had three hits with a home run and a pair of RBI, with Zack also having three safeties including a double and 3 RBI.
Michelle Sorensen recorded the complete game shutout against Missouri Southern. Sorensen surrendered just two hits while striking out seven batters to improve to 3-2 on the year.
White also picked up a complete game win against Lincoln improving to 2-1.
Henderson State finished the weekend going 5-1. The Reddies hit for a .437 average in the six games while averaging 10 runs and 12 hits per game.
Henderson State will next travel to Bentonville, Ark. to participate in the 8-State Classic begin Friday, Feb. 13.
