Annie Shannon claimed a three-set win to lift Henderson State to a 5-4 win over Ouachita Baptist in women's tennis Monday at the Bettye Wallace Center in Arkadelphia, Ark.

Leading 2-1 after doubles play, Henderson State claimed victories at No. 4 and No. 5 singles to take a 4-2 lead in the match.

Kristen Pierce defeated Camila Ferreira 6-3, 6-0 and Hannah Watson got past Polina Tsymbalova 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 to give the Reddies the advantage.

Needing one more win to claim the match, the final three singles matches went into a third set.

With OBU leading at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, OBU's Valeriya Mansvetova won the first set 6-4 at No. 1 singles, with Shannon easily winning set two 6-1.

In set three, Shannon trailed 2-1 before breaking Mansvetova's service twice and winning five straight games to win her match (4-6, 6-1, and 6-2) and secure the win for Henderson.

The doubles matches were instrumental with Henderson taking two of three matches.

Shannon and Amanda Korinihona put up Henderson's first win beating Mansvetova and Kourtney Chumbley at No. 1 doubles 8-0.

At No. 3 doubles Kristen Pierce teamed with Maddie McJunkins to defeat Polina Tsymbalova and Keely Howk (OBU) 8-3.

Henderson State, 4-3 on the season, travels to Russellville, Ark. on Tuesday to take on Arkansas Tech with the first serve set for 2 p.m.
