Henderson State will hit the road this weekend as the Reddies travel to Bethany, Okla. to face Southern Nazarene in a four-game GSC softball series beginning with a double-header Friday at 2 p.m.
The Reddies, 21-7 overall and 12-4 in the Great American Conference, moved into first-place in the league standings this week and also received votes in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association poll.
Henderson State has played 20 straight road games having last played at Dee White Field on Feb. 8.
Henderson State is one of the top offensive teams in the league having a .339 team average with a .481 slugging percentage.
Sarah Gipson is tops offensively for the Reddies with a .419 average to go along with a team high 43 RBI which ranks third nationally.
The senior from Grand Saline, Texas needs just three more hits to become only the second player in HSU history to record 200 career hits.
Ashlyn White follows hitting .400 with a team best eight RBI and 33 runs batted in.
White has performed double duty recording a 7-2 record in the pitcher's circle. White has a 2.79 ERA and has struck out 35 batters in 62 innings of work.
Michelle Sorensen is one of the league's premier pitchers having an 11-5 record and a 1.67 ERA. The two-time GAC Pitcher of the Week, Sorensen has struck out 81 batters in 96 innings.
Southern Nazarene, 10-15 overall and 6-9 in league play, has a solid .289 team average led by Jill Clemence who sports a .400 average.
Melissa Padilla follows and provides the power for the Crimson Storm. Padilla is hitting .388 with eight doubles and four home runs including a team best 25 runs batted in.
SNU has a 5.51 team earned run average. The Reddies will face pitchers Kayla Wyatt and Katelyn Brown. Wyatt is 5-6 on the year with a 3.98 ERA, while Brown is 5-9 with a 6.37 ERA.
