Box Score 3 Henderson State finished a four-game series sweep of Harding as the Reddies recorded three wins on Saturday in Searcy, Ark.
With the sweep, Henderson State improved to 30-8 on the year and 21-5 in the Great American Conference. The Reddies, winners of seven straight, have a two game lead in the league standings over second-place Southeastern Oklahoma with eight games remaining.
Henderson State will face Southeastern in the final GAC series of the year on April 24 and 25 in Arkadelphia. The Reddies will first play host to Arkansas Tech April 17-18 at Dee White Field. The Golden Suns are also in contention for the title, just four games back of Henderson.
The Reddies and Bisons began the day finishing their game from Friday night with Henderson winning 5-4 in 14 innings.
In the longest game in Great American Conference history, the game was halted after 12 innings on Friday due to darkness with the score tied at 4-4.
When the game resumed on Saturday, both teams went down in order in the 13th, but
Keirsten Seahorn led off the Reddie 14th with a single to left-center field.
Seahorn would advance to second on a sacrifice bunt by
Taylor Daniels followed by
Ashlyn White driving home the winning run when she laced a single to right field.
Michelle Sorensen retired the Bisons in order in the bottom of the inning to record the win. The freshman from Sherwood, Ark. pitched the final 8 innings of the game, scattering three hits while striking out six batters.
The two teams then played their scheduled double-header with Henderson winning 5-2 and 7-1.
In the first-game of the scheduled double-header,
Tricia Hock tripled to lead off the game and would score on a
Sarah Gipson fielder's choice.
The Reddies added a run in the third-inning on a RBI double by White, and another run in the sixth-inning when
Alicia Zack singled up the middle to score
Morgan South who reached on a double to left field.
Leading 3-1 in the seventh, Henderson added a pair of insurance runs as
Amy Halter began things with a single and Gipson then ripping a double to left field.
Halter scored of a sacrifice fly by Seahorn, and pinch-runner
Shayla Wright would score on a Daniels base-hit to right-centerfield.
Sorensen would pick up the win in the circle to improve to 15-6 on the year, while White pitched the final three innings to record a save.
The Reddies totaled 13 hits in the game with Hock leading the way going 3-for-4 in the contest.
In the series finale, Henderson scored three runs in the second-inning with Hock hitting her second triple of the day to drive in a pair of runs.
The Reddies then added four more runs in the fifth with Halter, Gipson and Seahorn having three straight singles to score the first run. However it was Daniels that delivered the big hit, a three-run home run to right field.
Ali Hargis recorded the complete-game win in the circle, allowing just three hits to improve to 6-0 on the year.
Gipson went 8-for-18 in the four-game series with a pair of doubles and two RBI, while Daniels collected six hits including a triple, two home runs and six runs batted in.
Sorensen was 3-0 during the weekend in the circle, striking out 13 batters in 19 innings of work.
Henderson State, winners of 19 of the last 21 games, will next play host to Delta State on Monday with the first game of the double-header set for 2 p.m. at Dee White Field.
