Box Score 2 Henderson State recorded a non-conference split with Arkansas-Monticello as the Cotton Blossoms claimed game one 3-2, with the Reddies rebounding to win game two 8-5.
Henderson State, 31-9 on the season, totaled 24 hits with a pair of doubles and three home runs in the twin bill.
Keirsten Seahorn led the HSU offense going 4-for-7 at the plate with two home runs and five RBI.
Sarah Gipson also had four hits with a home run, while
Alicia Zack had three hits and a double.
In game one, Henderson State built a 2-0 lead as the Reddies scored both runs in the third-inning.
Olivia Trapp led things off with a single up the middle and would advance on a sacrifice bunt by Zack.'
Henderson put runners on the corners when
Taylor Daniels singled to left field which moved Trapp to third.
Trapp would score on a bunt single by
Amy Halter, with Daniels then scoring on Seahorn's single to left field.
HSU pitcher
Michelle Sorensen held UAM in check through five innings giving up just three hits.
However, the freshman ran into some trouble in the sixth-inning walking three batters and hitting another.
The Cotton Blossoms would score their first run on a sacrifice fly, then take the lead when Holly Wilmath doubled down the left field line to drive in two runs.'
Henderson had 10 hits in the game with Daniels going 2-for-4, while Tripp was 2-for-3.
The Reddies trailed 1-0 in the second game before
Tricia Hock tied the score at 1-1 in the third-inning when she scored Zack on a base hit to right-field.
Gipson and Seahorn later hit back-to-back solo home runs to give Henderson a 3-1 advantage.
After Zack scored Trapp in the fourth-inning with a double to left-center field, Seahorn stepped to the plate again and blasted a 3-run home run to left field to make the score 7-2.
UAM would cut the deficit to 7-3 in the bottom of the fifth, but the Reddies got the run back in the top of the seventh on a Hock double.
The Cotton Blossoms got a pair of solo home runs in the seventh but the Reddies would hold on for the win.
Henderson State will next play host to Arkansas Tech in a four-game Great American Conference series beginning Friday at 2 p.m. at Dee White Field.
