Henderson State dropped its final regular-season match of the season as the Reddie tennis team lost to Harding 6-3, Thursday at the Bettye Wallace Tennis Center in Arkadelphia, Ark.
The Reddies took a quick 1-0 lead as No. 1 doubles as the team of
Annie Shannon and
Amanda Korinihona cruised to an 8-0 win over Arielle Butler and Katie Huff.
Harding was able to win at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles including the Bisons' Brittany Smyser and Emily Faulkner holding off the HSU duo of
Sara Griffin and
Hannah Watson 8-5.
Harding took control in singles play winning four matches including a victory at No. 3 singles as Huff fought off a strong effort by Korinihona 6-4, 7-5.
Henderson won at No. 5 singles as Watson beat Faulkner 2-6, 6-1, 6-4.
Tyler Reaves recorded Henderson's third win by beating Kaylie Brown 6-4, 7-5 at No. 6 singles.
Henderson State, 6-8 overall and 2-4 in the Great American Conference, will next travel to Bentonville, Ark. for the GAC Championships beginning April 24.
