Henderson State will look to remain in first-place as the Reddie softball team returns home to take on Ouachita Baptist on Tuesday in a double-header, with the first pitch set for 2 p.m. at Dee White Field.
The Reddies (24-8, 15-5 GAC) is tied with Southeastern Oklahoma atop the Great American Conference standings, while OBU is in tenth place with an overall record of 10-20 and a 6-15 conference record.
HSU leads the GAC with a 2.93 ERA and is second offensively with a .347 team batting average.
Sarah Gipson, last week's GAC Player of the Week, has cranked out six home runs this season and leads the team in RBIs with 44, while also leading the team with a .435 batting average.
Gipson ranks second in the conference in batting average, while
Ashlyn White ranks seventh with a .411 average.
White has 36 RBIs on the season, and leads Henderson State with eight home runs.
The sophomore from Longview, Texas also has a 7-2 record in the circle, appearing in 16 games and sporting a 3.93 ERA.
Leading the team with a 2.90 ERA is
Michelle Sorensen, who has a 11-6 record in the circle. The freshman has been impressive in 21 appearances, as opponents are only hitting at .183 percent.
Amy Halter is second on the team in hits this season with 44, and has plated 34 times.
Leading the team in runs scored is
Tricia Hock with 35. Hock has also recorded 38 hits which ranks third behind Gipson and Halter.
Ouachita Baptist is led by Sarah Johnson, who has a .421 hitting percentage and 24 RBIs on the season.
Kate Lacina leads the Lady Tigers in the home run category, as she's blasted nine this season.
Delaney Bedunah sports a 5-2 record from the circle to lead OBU, holding a 3.68 ERA through 16 appearances.
The Reddies are second in the GAC in runs scored (237), RBIs (214), and rank first in opponent batting average (.241).
