The Henderson State softball team will look to continue its hot streak on Friday as the Reddies travel to Searcy, Ark. for a four-game Great American Conference series against Harding (18-20, 12-10 GAC), with the first pitch set for 2 p.m.
The Reddies (26-8, 17-5 GAC) have won six of their last seven games, including a double-header sweep of Ouachita Baptist on Tuesday.
Sarah Gipson has been a major part of HSU's success, as the senior from Grand Saline, Texas leads the GAC in hits with 51 and RBIs with 49.
Gipson needs two RBIs to set the HSU single season record, and is also second in the GAC in batting average, hitting .447 on the season.
Ashlyn White ranks second in the GAC in slugging percentage at .760, and also holds an 8-2 record from the circle this year. She also is on a 16-game hitting streak and has 10 multiple-hit games.
Freshman standout
Michelle Sorensen has provided solid pitching for HSU this season, and ranks first in the GAC in ERA at 2.13, while also ranking fourth in strikeouts with 87.
The Sherwood, Ark. native has a 12-6 record from the circle, and is tied for first in the GAC in wins.
After a strong outing against Ouachita on Tuesday,
Taylor Daniels is third on the team in batting behind Gipson and White, as she's hitting .398 on the year and has cranked out 39 hits.
White and
Keirsten Seahorn each have 37 RBIs, and White leads HSU with eight home runs.
Gipson has smacked six home runs on the season, while
Morgan South has five homers and 27 RBIs.
Harding is led by Kimmy Hendricks, who has a .390 batting average and 39 hits this season to go along with 23 RBIs.
Mackenzie Jones leads the team with 46 hits and 28 RBIs, and hits at .387 percent.
From the circle, Amber Rollins is tied with Sorensen for the GAC lead in wins with a 12-8 record in 25 appearances.
The Reddies currently lead the GAC in batting average (.350), ERA (2.82), and opponent batting average (.238).
