The Henderson State women's basketball team will look for its third Great American Conference victory in a row on Saturday afternoon when it takes on Arkansas-Monticello at 1 p.m. in the Duke Wells Center.
Series:
The Reddies are 73-74 against the Blossoms all-time and split two meetings with UAM last season, falling 77-54 in Monticello, Arkansas, but winning 70-56 in Arkadelphia.
Henderson State Notes:
The Reddies come into Saturday's contest 6-7 overall but 6-1 in GAC games and are in a tie for second-place in the conference with Arkansas Tech, just one game back of first place Harding who is 7-0.
Henderson put forth a big effort on Thursday night against SAU to claim their second-straight conference win, 81-70. The Reddies shot 57 percent from the floor as a team and hit nine 3-pointers, seven alone from
Haleigh Henson, and also got 23 big points from
Pink Jones in the win.
Jones continues to lead the team in scoring, averaging 15 points per game overall and 18.4 points per game in conference play. She remains the leading freshman scorer in the GAC.
Henson tied a career-high with her seven 3-pointers against SAU, the last of which put her in sole possession of fourth all-time in the GAC in 3-pointers made with 190.
As a team, the Reddies are scoring 77.6 points per game but average 84.9 points per game in conference play and scored 80 or more points for the seventh time this season against SAU.
Arkansas-Monticello Notes:
The Blossoms enter Saturday's game 5-6 overall and 2-5 in GAC play, having dropped their last game on Thursday night to Harding 70-53. They are led by junior forward Treasure Evans, who averages 13.1 points and 6.2 rebounds per game.
As a team, UAM is shooting just under 40 percent from the floor and right at 33 percent from the 3-point line. They have been out rebounded by opponents by almost six boards a game, but do not turn the ball over often, as they have 40 less turnovers on the year than their opponents and a turnover margin of plus 3.6.
