ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Henderson State will look to give head coach Scott Maxfield win No. 100 of his career at the school on Saturday when the Reddies face Arkansas-Monticello at 2 p.m. in the first of back-to-back home games to close out the regular season.

TOP STORYLINES: SETTING THE SCENE
- A victory over the Boll Weevils would secure a winning season for the 12th time in the last 14 years under coach Maxfield.

- The Reddies (5-4) are looking to rebound after taking a 34-14 loss last Saturday in El Dorado at the Murphy USA Classic to No. 21 Southern Arkansas. HSU had its toughest offensive day of the season and was limited to just 155 total offensive yards.

- Saturday is the 81st meeting all-time between the two schools. Henderson leads the series 48-30-2, has won the last eight match-ups and claims 11 of the last 12 overall. UAM last defeated HSU in 2008 and has just three victories over the Reddies since 2000. The Boll Weevils have not beaten the Reddies since the inception of the GAC in 2011.

- The match-up features two of the better passing offenses in the GAC. UAM is third in the league in passing offense (257.1 yards per game), while HSU is fifth (226.1). The Reddies also boast two receivers who rank in the Top-10 in the conference in receiving yards: Ben Johnson (559 yards) and John Murray (488 yards).

REDDIES REPORT
- The Reddies' offense, which has been explosive for the majority of the 2018 season, has struggled in the last two weeks against the strong defenses of Southeastern Oklahoma and SAU. HSU has accounted for just under 400 yards of total offense in the past two games.

- Despite recent struggles, several Reddies still rank among the league leaders offensively. Logan Moragne is fifth in the GAC in rushing yards (625) and third in rushing yards per game (78.1), Richard Stammetti is fifth in passing yards (1894) and passing yards per game (210.7), and Ben Johnson is sixth in receiving yards (559) and third in receptions (52). Henderson remains fifth in the conference in scoring offense (28.3 points per game) and is sixth in total offense (373.6 yards per game).

- Malik Brown came through with the biggest play of the afternoon for the Reddies on Saturday when he picked off an SAU pass in the end zone and returned it 103 yards for a touchdown. It broke the school record for the longest interception return for a score in program history. Brown has three interceptions in the last two games for HSU.

- Cameron Sonnier also had a strong performance against SAU. He came up with a career-high 16 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss to lead the Henderson defense. Sonnier is now ninth all-time at HSU in total tackles in a career (237) and fifth in tackles for loss in a career (28.5). He is sixth in the GAC in tackles (80) and fourth in tackles for loss (10.5) this year.

- Henderson is now third in the GAC in interceptions this season with 12 total. The Reddies are one of four teams in the conference who have picked off 10 or more passes this year. Individually, Jake Chatman and Malik Brown are tied among a group of players for second in the league with three interceptions this season.

- The Reddies have struggled this year to protect their quarterbacks and also to pressure opposing signal callers. Henderson has allowed the most sacks (24) of any team in the GAC and is 10th in the conference in total sacks (10). However, the HSU defense has been very stingy on critical downs this season. Opponents are just 4-for-15 on fourth down conversions against Henderson this year, which is the second best 4th-down defensive percentage in the league for the Reddies.

- HSU has done a good job this season of not hurting itself with penalties. The Reddies remain one of the least penalized teams in the conference and average just 53.1 penalty yards per game -- the third-best mark in the GAC.

- The kicking game for Henderson has been a bright spot all season. Temo Martinez is sixth in the conference in scoring with 57 points this year and is 8-for-12 on field goal attempts with a long of 49 yards. Martinez is one of two kickers in the GAC who have not missed an extra point this season (33-for-33).

- A win on Saturday over UAM would give the Reddies their third-straight home victory. The last time HSU won three-straight home games was during the 2015 season when they defeated SWOSU, Arkansas Tech, Southern Arkansas and Southern Nazarene to close the regular season home schedule.

SCOUTING UAM
- Arkansas-Monticello enters Saturday's game 4-5 this season having won three of its last four games. The Boll Weevils saw their three-game win streak snapped last week in a 35-10 loss to Ouachita Baptist. They are searching for their first winning season since the formation of the GAC in 2011. UAM is led by head coach Hud Jackson, who is 27-58 in eight seasons at the school.

- UAM is led offensively by senior quarterback Cole Sears. Sears is one of the top passers in the GAC statistically and ranks third in the league in passing yards (2184), passing yards per game (242.7) and total offense per game (255 yards). His top target is junior receiver DeAndre Washington, who has caught 25 passes this year for 486 yards and four touchdowns. Washington averages 19.4 yards per reception -- the second highest mark in the conference.

- Defensively, the Weevils lean on several standout playmakers, beginning with freshman cornerback Jimel London, who leads the GAC with four interceptions, three of which he has returned for touchdowns this year. On the defensive line, UAM is anchored by junior end Brandon Young, who is third in the conference in tackles for loss (10.5) and has 3.5 sacks this season.

- The Weevils have one of the better offenses in the GAC. UAM ranks fourth in the league in both scoring offense (28.7 points per game) and total offense (400.2 yards per game). Its passing attack trails only Oklahoma Baptist and SAU as the most productive in the conference.

- After a run of success in the late 80s and mid-90s UAM's program has struggled in the last two decades. The Weevils have just three winning seasons in the past 20 years.

LAST YEAR'S MEETING
- In what was a slugfest throughout, Henderson State got a pick-six to tie the game and then a Ben Johnson touchdown late to escape Monticello, Arkansas, with a 28-21 win over UAM after trailing in the fourth quarter. The win extended HSU's road winning streak to 32 games and guaranteed the Reddies a winning season with their sixth victory of the year.

- UAM got a huge 73-yard touchdown run at the start of the fourth quarter to grab a 21-14 lead on its homecoming, but a 30-yard interception return for a touchdown by HSU tied it with just under 10 minutes to play. Minutes later, Evan Lassiter hooked up with Ben Johnson from 11 yards out to give the Reddies the 28-21 lead, which they held to secure the win.

- Johnson and Andrew Black each caught touchdown passes from Lassiter in the win. Cole Sears passed for 174 yards with two touchdowns and one interception to lead UAM.
