ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — After taking three games from Northwestern Oklahoma State last weekend at home, Henderson State will hit the road to face Southwestern Oklahoma State in doubleheaders set for 2 p.m. Thursday and 12 p.m. Friday.
REDDIES REPORT
- Henderson (15-13, 9-7) is coming off of a series win over Northwestern Oklahoma State at home last weekend. After dropping the first game, the Reddies won three-straight to take it from the Lady Rangers.
- Michelle Sorensen, who picked up two wins in the circle for the Reddies against NWOSU, was named GAC Pitcher of the Week for the seventh time in her career on Monday. Sorensen carries a 1.91 ERA and has struck out 48 batters in 47 2/3 innings of action this season.
- As a team, Henderson is at or near the top of the GAC in several offensive categories. The Reddies lead the conference in batting average (.325), on-base percentage (.408), and triples (10). HSU is second in the league in hits (232) and third in slugging percentage (.452).
- The Reddies have been terrific at swiping bases this season and are second in the GAC in stolen bases with 70 in 81 attempts on the year. Marcela Lopez leads the league with 22 stolen bases on the year.
- Ashlyn Taylor's hot bat has shown no signs of slowing down, as she sits second in the conference with a sizzling .450 batting average. She has a team-high 36 hits and 11 multi-hit games this year.
SCOUTING SOUTHWESTERN OKLAHOMA STATE
- SWOSU comes into the series 8-17 overall and 7-9 in GAC play. The Lady Bulldogs were picked last in the 2019 GAC Preseason Poll, but have already picked up several impressive league wins this year, including three over then No. 1 nationally ranked SAU.
- The Lady Bulldogs bat .264 as a team and are led by Amanda Moreno, who has started all 25 games for SWOSU and carries a .333 batting average along with a team-high 24 hits. Southwestern hits for power as well as any team in the conference and is second in the league with 20 home runs this season.Â
- The workhorse in the circle for SWOSU is Kaytlin Donaldson, who has appeared in 21 of the Lady Bulldogs' 25 games and made 13 starts. Donaldson is 5-8 on the season and has a 5.42 ERA in 63 1/3 innings. Miranda Grover and Alisa Friesen have each started six games for SWOSU.
- Southwestern split with Henderson in the four-game series last season. The Reddies dominated the opening doubleheader with back-to-back 9-1 victories but SWOSU responded by winning the final two games to earn the split.
