KANSAS CITY — Henderson State shot 2-over 286 on Thursday at the Shoal Creek Golf Club to settle into third place after day one of the 2021 NCAA DII Central/Midwest Regional.
The Reddies are seven shots back of first place Central Missouri and eight strokes up on both Arkansas Tech and Southwestern Oklahoma State, who are tied for fourth. The top four teams after three rounds of play will earn bids to the 2021 NCAA DII National Championships.
Freshman Josh McNulty led Henderson in the opening round and shot 2-under 69 to finish the day tied for second individually. McNulty ended Thursday with a flourish and birdied three of his final four holes.
Grayson Jones and Stuart Krog are each tied for 10th after shooting even par 71. Jones led the Reddies with five birdies on the day, while Krog had four — three of which came in his last four holes played.Â
Mitchell Ford and Miller Harris filled out the lineup for HSU. Ford shot 4-over 75 for his first 18 holes and is in a tie for 36th. Harris carded an 80 to enter Friday tied for 72nd.Â
Henderson will look to build on its strong opening day tomorrow when it tees off at 8:20 a.m. in the second round of the Central/Midwest Regional.Â
