Men's Golf Leads After Two Rounds at Texarkana Invitational

TEXARKANA, Ark. – Henderson State men's golf sits at the top of the team standings after the opening 36 holes of the Texarkana Invitational on Monday, placing multiple players among the individual leaders after two rounds of play at Texarkana Country Club.

HSU got off to a slow start through the opening six holes, but came alive to finish the first round at 27-over as a team, good enough for a 10-stroke lead over Western Texas College and Texas A&M-Victoria.

The Reddies shot the second-best round during Monday afternoon's second round, shooting 29-over to set their overnight lead at 10 strokes over second-place Tyler Junior College.

Brode Horton leads the Reddies after two rounds and stands second on the individual leaderboard at 10-over-par. Horton shot back-to-back rounds of 5-over par 77 to sit one stroke behind the tournament leader.

Jacob Knowlton is tied for fourth at 12-over after rounds of 7-over and 5-over. Colin Purifoy holds seventh place at 13-over with rounds of 6-over and 7-over.

Everson Adams is tied for 19th at 21-over after posting scores of 9-over and 12-over. Bailey Doe is tied for 46th at 34-over following rounds of 21-over and 13-over.

Texas A&M–Texarkana's Rylen Caldwell leads the field at 9-over with rounds of 6-over and 3-over. Tyler Junior College's Noah Sandlin stands third at 11-over. Texas A&M–Victoria's Lucky Boonsrirat and Blinn's Ben Potter share fourth place at 12-over.

The Reddies will return Tuesday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start for its final 18 holes of the tournament.
