HOT SPRINGS, Ark. — Henderson State had four golfers earn 2022 All-GAC recognition at the league's awards banquet on Saturday evening.
Mitchell Ford was named to the First Team, Nick Shapiro and Miller Harris earned Second Team honors, and freshman Alex Hadden earned Honorable Mention accolades.
Ford, a fifth-year senior from Little Rock, earned First Team recognition for the second-straight season after carrying a 71.38 stroke average and nabbing six Top-10 finishes this year, which included a tournament win at the Battle for the Belt. He had eight rounds in the 60s this year and a low round of 7-under 65.
Shapiro's All-GAC honor was the second of his career. The fifth-year senior had five Top-10 results during the regular season and a stroke average of 72.81. Harris, who tied for first with Ford at the Battle for the Belt, picked up the first All-Conference award of his career, as did Hadden, who played 23 rounds this season for the Reddies as a true freshman and finished under par in three events.
Both fifth-year seniors, Ford and Shapiro, were also awarded Distinguished Scholar-Athlete status by the league. Henderson was one of just two programs in the conference with multiple players who received Distinguished Scholar-Athlete accolades.
The Reddies will play for their sixth conference title on April 10-12 at the GAC Championships in Hot Springs.
