2021-22 ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award Winners
ARKADELPHIA, Arkansas - The Henderson State baseball program was named a winner of the 2021-22 American Baseball Coaches Association Team Academic Excellence Award, the ABCA announced Wednesday afternoon. This the fourth consecutive year HSU has nabbed this academic honor.
The ABCA recognized nearly 700 member college and high school programs from across the country for the 2021-22 ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award, which is presented by Sports Attack. Teams from every level of college and high school baseball were honored with this year's award, which highlights programs coached by ABCA members that posted a GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale for the entire 2021-22 academic year.
In order to be considered for such an honor, a qualifying team must be a high school or college program, the head coach must be a current ABCA member and teams must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher on a 4.0 scale during the 2021-22 academic year.
In addition to the academic nod, the ABCA recognized former Reddies pitcher
Spencer Taack as a 2022 All-Region Second Team honoree. Taack helped lead Henderson to its first 40-win season in program history and a trip the Central Region Finals.
