MONKEY ISLAND, Oklahoma - The Henderson State men's golf program shot 22-over 301 and 5-under 283 on day one of the MSSU Men's Fall Invitational. The team ends the rounds in fifth place after 36 holes, carding a 17-over 593.

No. 19 University of Missouri-St. Louis leads the 19-team field at 6-over 582, followed by Oklahoma Christian at 9-over 585. Third-place St. Mary's and fourth-place Central Oklahoma hold a five and three stroke lead on HSU, respectively.

After a slow first round, the Reddies came alive for the last 18 holes of the day, finishing with the best score of the field at 5-under par. The sub-par second round propelled HSU from 13th to fifth on the leaderboard. Â

Miller Harris and
Josh McNulty finished tied for 18th on the player leaderboard at 5-over 149. Harris shot a 4-over 76 and 1-over 74 to finish off his day. McNulty carded a 9-over 81 before posting the second best round-two score with a 4-under 68. Both juniors recorded five birdies, while McNulty also registered an eagle.

Alex Hadden shot a 6-over 78 and an even-par 72, placing him in 24th in the standings. The sophomore led the team with seven birdies on the day, five of which came in the second round.
Nathan Cossement finished the day 7-over par after completing the two rounds 9-over 81 and 2-under 70. The junior tallied five birdies and an eagle.

Rounding out the team in his first tournament of the season was
Brady Perkins, who carded a 3-over 75 and 10-over 82, which placed him tied for 54th. The redshirt junior accumulated four birdies on the first day.

The Reddies will look to build off their strong finish in round two and continue to climb the leaderboard tomorrow at the par 72, 6876 yard Shangri-La Country Club. Perkins will be the first Reddie to tee off at 8:16 a.m. CT.
