HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Just after setting a team record for the lowest score across three rounds on a Par 72 course last week, No. 23 Henderson State cards a new record low score over 54-holes at the Battle for the Belt with a 35-under 829, finishing in first place.
Nathan Cossement continued to write his name in the Henderson State records book on day two, setting a new program record for best individual 54-hole score after logging a 14-under 202 and placing first. The previous low score was held by former Reddie Brice Howard, who shot 12-under 204 in 2016 at the GAC Championships. Cossement finished the third round 2-under 71 and was bogey-free on all 18 holes with two birdies.
Ethan Wilkins placed second with a three-round score of 11-under 205 and carded a 5-under 67 on the day with eight birdies. The Sussex, Wisconsin native tallied the most birdies across the 58-player field with 18 and posted an under-par score in each round.
Miller Harris had the best individual score in the final round with a 6-under 66 and moved up four spots on the player leaderboard to finish tied for fourth. Harris went bogey-free on the back nine, recording two birdies and an eagle. Just behind,
Alex Hadden (8
th) carded an even-Par 72 in the final round and 3-under 213 for the tournament.
Rounding out the five-bag,
Cooper Williams notched a 3-over 75 on the final 18 holes, finishing tied for 18
th place with a 54-hole score of 6-over 222. No. 23 Henderson State returns to action on Oct. 16-17 when they compete in the Central Regional Preview hosted by Southern Nazarene in Edmond, Okla.
The Henderson State B team moved up one spot on the leaderboard after a 1-under 287 final round and finished tied for third with Harding with a 54-hole score of 10-over 874.
Jacob Knowlton and
Ratio Visuttipinate paced the five-bag in the final round with a 4-under 68 and 2-under 70, respectively. Knowlton jumped four spots to tenth on the player leaderboard with a final score of 2-under 214, while Visuttipinate carded a 4-over 220, placing 16
th individually.
Corbin Barton notched a 3-over 75 on day two with a pair of birdies and finished his first tournament for HSU tied for 22
nd with a 7-over 223. Rounding out the five-bag,
Gus Fritz (27
th) and
Collin Purifoy (36
th) carded a 9-over 225 and 11-over 227, respectively after three rounds at the Battle for the Belt.
