SEARCY, Ark. - Henderson State's cross country team finished ninth at the Steve Guymon Invitational hosted by Harding University in Searcy on Friday night.
Little Rock finished first in the team standings and boasted the event's individual winner in the form of Aaliyah Joshua (18:06.03). Host Harding finished second in the team category, followed by Christian Brothers in third. Arkansas-Monticello, the only GAC program besides Harding and Henderson State, ended the night in ninth place.
Heidy Galvan posted HSU's first top 25 individual finish of the year with a time 21:07.03. Less than 30 seconds later, Natalie Jennings crossed the finish line in 31st place. With a time of 23:12.44, Jaide Tatum became the third and final Reddie to claim a top 50 spot in the 5K event.
After tonight's contest, Henderson will have more than two weeks to rest up for their next race: the Chile Pepper Invitational hosted by the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. The race is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 28.
