FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Henderson State's women's cross country team place 17th of 23 teams in the Women's Prairie Fire Pepper 5K event at the Chile Pepper XC Festival hosted by the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.
The Women's Prairie Fire Pepper 5K was one of two 5K races to take place at the festival on Saturday. HSU earned its No. 17 finish with 417 points. Saint Mary (Nebraska) won the event with 79 points, while Butler Community College (88 points) and Missouri S&T (154 points) rounded out the podium in second and third place, respectively.
Heidy Galvan was the Reddies' top finisher with a time of 20:43.3, which earned her 33rd place in the 188-athlete field. Natalie Jennings cracked the top 60 at 21:27.4. Jade Tatum and Angela Dorado Marin also completed the race in under 24 minutes.
Henderson will return to action at the Tiger Invitational in Arkadelphia on Friday, October 11. Hosted by Ouachita Baptist University, the event is slated for a 4:00 p.m. start.
