RUSSELLVILLE, Ark.  -  Henderson State swept the Great American Conference's weekly golf awards when men's golf's Jacob Knowlton and women's golf's Lily Nelson both claimed GAC Golfer of the Week Awards on Wednesday.

Knowlton was named the conference's Men's Golfer of the Week for the first time in his career after shooting a field-best five-under 66 on the last day of the NSU Men's Golf Classic. He finished with an overall score of eight-under 205, which was tied for third in the final individual standings. His contributions helped HSU secure its first tournament win of the year. At the end of the event, the junior from Cabot, Arkansas, received All-Tournament honors.

Nelson received her second consecutive GAC Women's Golfer of the Week Award for a one-under 215 showing at the DBU Classic in Denton, Texas. She never had a single-round score below par during the event. The Reddies have won all three of the conference's weekly awards for women's golf this season.

Jacob and his teammates will be back on the road next week for the Statesmen Classic in West Point, Mississippi. Tournament play is set to begin on Monday, September 23. Lily and the rest of the women's golf team will return to action at the Central Regional Preview in Edmond, Oklahoma, on Monday, October 7.
