WEST POINT, Miss. - Henderson State's men's golf team finds itself in eighth place after the first day of competition at the Dunning Invitational at Mossy Oak Golf Club in West Point, Mississippi.
After shooting 18-over 306 as a team in the first round, the Reddies regrouped to post a second-round score of four-over 292 later in the day.
Midwestern State sits atop the team leaderboard at three-under 573 after day one. UT-Tyler (two-under 574) and Valdosta State (one-under 575) follow close behind in second and third place, respectively. With a score of 12-over 588, host Delta State currently occupies fifth.
Ethan Wilkins is tied for the fourth-best individual score in the field after two rounds. Going under par in both rounds, he finished the first day of the tournament at three-under 141. He was the only Reddie to finish Monday under par.
HSU will wrap up its time at the Statesmen Classic with the third and final round on Tuesday. All five Reddie competitors are scheduled to tee off at 8:30 a.m.
