2021 SOFTBALL GAMEDAY INFORMATION
ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Henderson State hosts the Harding Lady Bisons this weekend in a three-game series after splitting Tuesday's doubleheader with Ouachita Baptist. The series against the Lady Bisons will begin with a single game on Friday, Mar. 12 at 5 p.m. and then a doubleheader on Saturday, Mar. 13 at 12 and 2 p.m.
REDDIES REPORT
Henderson State (3-11, 2-6) comes into this weekend winners of two of its last three games. In their last win, the Reddies defeated OBU, 5-4, with the help of
Monica Monreal and
Ashlyn Taylor's two hits each, along with two RBIs from
Kailey Reese.
Mallory Brewer saw one of her best games of the season as she was awarded the win over the Tigers, pitching all seven innings and registering five strikeouts and only one walk with two earned runs. Brewer and
Leann Beasley are the two HSU pitchers to see wins on the year, with the freshman Beasley carrying a 2-2 record into this weekend.
Monreal saw her batting average shoot up after Tuesday's games where she saw four hits on six at-bats. The sophomore from Ennis, Texas is now hitting .321, good enough for second on the team as
Kaitlyn O'Quinn is still pacing all Reddies batters with a .415 average.
Henderson won the last meeting with Harding, 4-1, at Dee White Field on Apr. 20, 2019. The Reddies are 9-7 against the Lady Bisons when playing on their home field and holds a one game lead in the series since 2014, 13-12.
SCOUTING HARDING
Harding (7-2, 3-2) has won three straight games, including a sweep of Arkansas Tech in a Tuesday doubleheader. The Lady Bisons began this winning streak with their highest scoring game of the season in a 10-1 win over Ouachita Baptist on Sunday, Mar. 7.
Jordan Cabana has one of the highest batting averages in the entire Great American Conference. Through nine games, Cabana is hitting .522 on 23 at-bats with a team-high 12 hits and eight RBIs, second to only Ashlyn Peterson with 10 RBIs.
Friday's game in Arkadelphia will mark the Lady Bisons' first true road game of the season. Last year's team was only 1-7 on the road. Harding is 4-0 in neutral site games, having run the table at the University of Alabama-Huntsville Charger Chillout, defeating Shorter, Union (Tenn.), West Alabama, and Trevecca Nazarene.
