GAME COVERAGE LINKS | 2021 Softball Gameday Information

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Coming off a shutout victory over first-place Southeastern, Henderson State (12-29, 9-21) will close out its season with a 3-game series against the Oklahoma Baptist Bison. First pitch at Dee White Field is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Friday with games two and three taking place on Saturday beginning at 12 p.m.

REDDIES REPORT
In Henderson's last outing, Mallory Brewer saw one of her best games of the season, tying her season high of nine strikeouts as she handed Southeastern its first shutout loss in over a year. In the two appearances she made against the Savage Storm, Brewer registered 15 strikeouts with zero walks.

With this weekend marking senior day, Kailey Reese will be one of four Reddies to play their final games at Henderson over the next two days. The Rio Vista, Texas, native comes into this series having made 112 consecutive starts as she leads HSU in all-time triples and is Top-10 in program history with 73 RBIs.

Henderson State is led in hitting by Kaitlyn O'Quinn at .357, followed by Monica Monreal at .313. Coming up strong as of late, Monreal is coming off back-to-back multi-hit games and is currently sporting a five-game hitting streak.

O'Quinn, who moved into sixth-place this past weekend for most stolen bases in a single season, has 25 stolen bags this year and needs four more to tie for fifth-most all-time. The second-year freshman is already third in Henderson State history with 41 for her career.

The Reddies have fared relatively well against the Bison over the years, holding the series lead, 13-7, since 2016. In that time, HSU is 6-2 at home against the Bison. The last 10 matchups, however, have been split right down the middle with each team taking five wins.

SCOUTING OKLAHOMA BAPTIST
Oklahoma Baptist has all but clinched a spot in the postseason conference tournament. Currently in seventh place, OKBU needs one win to secure itself a spot as it is one game ahead of eighth-place East Central and three games ahead of ninth-place Arkansas-Monticello with UAM holding the tiebreaker.

Kayleigh Jones and Aspen Younce are responsible for the majority of the work at the rubber for the Bison. Jones is eighth in the entire GAC with a 2.41 ERA and carries a 12-6 record this season. Jones is also third in the league with 119 strikeouts while Younce is fifth with 102.

When up to bat, OKBU has four girls hitting .320 or better, with Shelby Savage leading the time with a .348 batting average and is second on the team with four homeruns (Cheyenne Demaree). Kylie Kawamura has 33 hits this season to lead all Bison.

Oklahoma Baptist, at 19-18 overall and 14-16 in conference play, has lost five of its last six games coming into this weekend. The Bison are 4-9 on the road this season compared to 11-8 at home.
