ARKADELPHIA, Ark.  -  Henderson State Football prepares to celebrate its 21 seniors on Senior Day at Carpenter-Haygood Stadium against Southwestern Oklahoma State. Kickoff between the Reddies and Bulldogs is scheduled for Saturday, November 9, at 1:00 p.m.

STORYLINES: SETTING THE SCENE
Henderson State enters Senior Day on the heels of back-to-back wins. The Reddies have outscored their opponents 86-17 across their last two games. They have won each of their last four meetings with the Bulldogs.

Southwestern Oklahoma State aims for its first victory over HSU since 2018: a 35-31 result that took place at Carpenter-Haygood Stadium. A win on Saturday would help keep SWOSU on pace for its first four-win season since 2022.

REDDIES REPORT: OFFENSE
Heading into Saturday's Senior Day contest versus Southwestern Oklahoma State, senior Timieone Jackson leads the Great American Conference with 44 receptions. The senior from Pflugerville, Texas, has 333 receiving yards and three touchdowns on the year, including a score last week at Northwestern Oklahoma State.

Andrew Edwards continues to sit atop the GAC leaderboards for completion percentage (65.5), passing yards (1,978), passing touchdowns (22), and quarterback efficiency rating (155.2).

In limited work against the Rangers, Jeremiah Davis collected 97 rushing yards to bring his league-leading rushing total to 697 yards.

At tight end, Cayden Davis remains one of the conference's top 15 receivers with 298 yards and three scores on 16 catches. His average of 18.6 yards per catch is ranked third among GAC players with at least 15 receptions this season.

After putting up two touchdowns at NWOSU, Micah Greene now paces the team and holds a share of the conference lead with five receiving scores in 2024.

HSU is currently top five in league in both rushing offense (1,545 yards) and passing offense (2,008). The Reddies are third in the league with nearly 400 yards of total offense per game this season (394.8).

The Reddies are one of only two teams in the conference to score more than 40 points in five different games this year (joining No. 4 Harding).

REDDIES REPORT: DEFENSE
Jakobe Shell has now tallied two sacks or more in each of his last two games and at least one sack in four of his last five outings. He is currently second in the conference with seven sacks on the season.

Redshirt freshman Ayden Ramirez recorded the first interception of his collegiate career in last week's game at Northwestern Oklahoma State.

Through nine games, HSU is ranked fourth in the nation with 128.3 passing yards allowed per game.

The Reddies have the eighth-best opposing third-down conversion rate in all of NCAA Division II (.274).

REDDIES REPORT: SPECIAL TEAMS
Axel Robertson made a field goal for the first time as a Reddie by drilling a 47-yard attempt at NWOSU - the longest HSU field goal of the season. The Katy, Texas, native also has one of the nation's top 15 punting averages at 43.26 yards per attempt.

Jody Easter is the only player in the GAC with multiple kick return touchdowns this season. Both of his scoring returns have occurred at home and gone for more than 90 yards, with the latest being a 92-yard sprint to the end zone versus Arkansas-Monticello.

THE OPPONENT: SOUTHWESTERN OKLAHOMA STATE
SWOSU quarterback Kai Kunz is ranked fifth in the GAC with 604 rushing yards. He has the highest rushing yardage total among quarterbacks in the league. Kunz is also fifth in the conference in quarterback efficiency rating.

Running back Malik Roberson has aided the Bulldogs' ground attack by contributing 224 rushing yards and a score across 55 carries. Dante Dean (137 yards) and Keyshawn Walls (126 yards) have also proven to be viable options in Southwestern's rushing attack.

Jax Smith is the top dog in SWOSU's receiving corps with 266 receiving yards and one touchdown on 18 receptions. He is the only Bulldog with at least 200 receiving yards this season.

Southwestern's four passing touchdowns have each been caught by a different receiver: the aformentioned Smith, Baylor Nash, Michael Arceneaux II, and Julian Stratford.

Linebacker Logan Monroe is the anchor of SWOSU's defense. His 82 tackles lead the team and put him in third place on the GAC's individual leaderboard. The senior from Dallas, Texas, is also tied for 15th in the conference with 7.5 tackles for loss.

Desmond Greene paces the league with six interceptions thus far in 2024. No other player in the conference has more than four picks. Fellow Bulldog Wyatt Rohmer is tied for the sixth-most interceptions in the GAC with three.

SWOSU's defense has forced 21 turnovers as a unit this season - the most of any Great American Conference team. They are second in the league with 12 interceptions and hold a share of first place with nine fumble recoveries.

Punter Dylan Mauro owns the conference's third-best punting average at 42.8 yards per attempt. He is one of only four players in the GAC to post eight different punts of 50 or more yards in 2024.

Kicker Ethan McBee has the league's fourth-best field goal percentage: 85.7 percent. His longest make of the year, which came from 39 yards out, took place in week three at East Central.

THE COACHING MATCHUP
Greg Holsworth remains perfect at home with a 4-0 record in games played at Carpenter-Haygood Stadium this season. During his time as Henderson's defensive coordinator, the Reddies held the Bulldogs to an average of 11.71 points per game through seven meetings.

Andrew Rice makes his first trip to Arkadelphia as the head coach of Southwestern Oklahoma State. A graduate of Northeastern State, Rice previously served as the offensive coordinator at Southern Arkansas, where he helped the Muleriders reach 10 wins in 2023.

THE LAST MEETING
Andrew Edwards tallied 321 total yards and two touchdowns in a 56-0 shutout win in Weatherford. His favorite target was Chris Hatzis, who compiled 147 receiving yards and a touchdown on just six catches.
