Dr. David Thigpen coached the Lady Reddie basketball team from 1989 to 2001. Thigpen was instrumental in helping HSU make the transition from NAIA to NCAA Division II as the Lady Reddies won the GSC West Division titles in the first two years as part of the Gulf South Conference. A 1976 graduate of Hendrix College, Dr. Thigpen has served as an assistant coach at his alma mater, as well as assistant coach at Northwestern State, head coach at Arkadelphia High School, and served as an assistant coach for the Reddies. Dr. Thigpen currently works at Henderson State as Associate Athletic Director.
