Henderson State University Athletics

An all-around athlete at Henderson, Richard Hays lettered in football, track and swimming from 1946 to 1950. A four-time All-AIC in football, Hays earned first-team honors as a sophomore, junior and senior. In 1949, he was named the team’s co-captain. In 1949 and 1950, Hays was undefeated in the AIC in the javelin event while competing for the Reddie track team. He also earned two letters in swimming
