An Honorable Mention All-AIC selection in 1976, J.B. Grimes played on three AIC championship teams, including the 1974 team that went to the NAIA Championship game. Selected as an outstanding offensive lineman in 1976, Grimes graduated Cum Laude and was named the outstanding graduate from the Physical Education Department Class of 1977. After spending two years as a high school coach, Grimes began his collegiate coaching career at Northeast Louisiana in 1979. He also coached at Delta State and Missouri. He was a graduate assistant at Arkansas from 1981 to 1982 and returned to Fayetteville in 1989 where he spent four seasons with the Razorbacks. Grimes also had coaching stops at Virginia Tech (1993-97), Texas A&M (1998-2002), and East Carolina (2003). He took over as offensive line coach at Mississippi State in 2004 and spent the next five years in Starkville. He currently is the offensive line coach at Kansas University. During his coaching career, he has coached in 15 Bowl games.
